An accused carjacker remains in the hospital following a high speed chase from Pearl to Newton County.
According to a spokesman, Pearl police officers tried to pull over Frederick Course Sunday afternoon.
Course fled east on I-20. Multiple law enforcement agencies joined the chase to Newton County. That's when the suspect's engine blew up.
Course tried to run but was tasered by a state trooper. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Police say he remains hospitalized due to a pre-existing health problem.
Course faces multiple felony charges.
