Jackson Police Assistant Chief Lee Vance confirms investigators have recovered two guns possibly connected to the shooting death of JSU Freshman Nolan Ryan Henderson.

Police also recovered a bullet from Henderson and are waiting for the results of ballistic tests.

Vance says the investigation is being hampered by a number of different accounts from witnesses about what actually happened Saturday night.

Jackson Mayor, Harvey Johnson, issued a press release Tuesday offering his condolences to the shooting victim's family.

"Our hearts go out to the family of Ryan Henderson. This was a senseless act of violence that was perpetrated against this young man, and the Jackson Police Department will pursue every avenue to ensure the individuals responsible are brought to justice," said Mayor Johnson.

Jackson State University President, Carolyn Meyers, also offered her sincerest regards to the slain student's family urging anyone with information regarding the off-campus shooting to contact Jackson Police.

"This is the time to step forward. We need to do whatever we can to help the Henderson family and the Jackson State family. We are all grieving," President Meyers said.

Meyers went on to say that the JSU campus police will continue to support JPD's investigation, including transporting students to the Jackson Police Department for voluntary interviews.
