Grand Station Casino closes

The Grand Station Casino in Vicksburg closed today after less than a year in operation. When we called the casino, we were told the measure is temporary.

Wednesday afternoon, Vicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield held a news conference urging the owners to figure out a way to keep it open and keep its employees on the job.

A new owner is trying to buy the hotel, but the deal hasn't gone through yet. The hotel remains open.

The casino opened in 1993 as Harrah's. It was sold ten years later and renamed Horizon.

It sold again and was renamed Grand Station last summer.
