Wreck knocks down traffic signal at busy Tyler intersection

Posted: Updated:

Traffic is snarled on Broadway and Front after an early morning wreck that knocked down the traffic signals.

Just before 4:20 am, a truck traveling westbound on Front, apparently lost control and hit the traffic signal pole on the northwest corner of Front at Broadway, knocking the pole into the roadway along with another utility pole and wires.

Tyler police are on the scene directing traffic around the intersection until the traffic lights are working again. Officers will also be shutting down traffic lanes throughout the morning to assist signal crews working on the traffic lights.

One person in the truck was transported to a Tyler hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The second wreck near the intersection has been cleared. There are no reports of power outages in the area.

Motorists should use alternate routes to avoid delays.
