
BROOKLYN, Miss. (AP) - A dive team from the Forrest County Sheriff's Department recovered the body of a 3-year-old girl in Black Creek near Brooklyn.
Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict tells The Hattiesburg American (http://hatne.ws/H9Y7e4 ) it appears to be a drowning. He says an autopsy will be performed Monday.
The sheriff's department did not identify the child.
Sheriff Billy McGee said the call about the missing girl came into dispatch around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The dive team arrived around 7 p.m.
Benedict said the girl was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m.
