LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) - The attorney for Christopher Baxter, 1 of 2 people charged in the 2010 death of George County Sheriff Garry Welford, has asked a judge to order prosecutors to reveal all negotiations with co-defendant Brandy Nicole Williams.
Williams and Baxter are accused of running over Welford during a vehicle pursuit in George County.
Circuit Judge Richard McKenzie was scheduled to hear motions in Baxter's case beginning Tuesday.
The Mississippi Press reports (http://bit.ly/HTx8jP ) that the defense also has filed motion to exclude the death penalty in sentencing due to Baxter's intellectual disability and to allow questioning prospective jurors individually about the death penalty.
Baxter's trial is scheduled May 7 in Adams County. Williams' trial is scheduled Aug. 27 in Lafayette County. Both have pleaded not guilty and are being held without bond.
