East Texas band director arrested for relationship with student

GRAPELAND, TX (KTRE) - Grapeland Police have arrested a band director at the high school on a charge of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Houston County Jail records show Adrian Gonzalo Tovar, 32, of Austin, was booked on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and student on Monday.

According to an article on CountyLifeOnline.com, Grapeland ISD hired Tovar as the band director on Aug. 1, 2011.

Grapeland Police have yet to comment on the arrest. A call to Grapeland ISD for comment was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon.
