The man accused of murdering a Pelahatchie woman has been ordered to remain in jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing.

Thirty-eight-year-old Willie James Washington, Junior, is charged with murder and Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey says wWashington confessed to the crime.

The victim, 55-year-old Teresa Jean Beal of Pelahatchie, was found dead in a shallow grave in rural Rankin County on Tuesday. She was buried behind Washington's trailer on Andrew Chapel Road.

The grave was discovered after investigators found Beal's burned Cadillac nearby on Gulde Road, near Highway 80.

Washington's preliminary hearing is scheduled for next Tuesday at 9AM in Rankin County Court.
