JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are investigating the report of shots fired early Sunday morning at a night club familiar to law enforcement.

Officers responded to the scene at the Night Life Club, formerly known as the Upper Level. It is located on west Northside Drive.

Police spokeswoman Colendula Green told WLBT that a security guard shot Tyrone Gardner, 27, in the right arm.

Police say he is in stable condition at University Medical Center.

Officer Green says there is surveillance video which could help them determine what happened.

Officers were dispatched to the location around 2:25 a.m. Sunday, where they said shots were fired at a vehicle.

Green said the shooting was also in connection to another shots-fired call in the 4300 block of Lynda Street. Sources told WLBT that a fight had started on Lynda Street. One person reportedly involved in the fight opened fire.

The male victim retreated to his car, a navy blue Oldsmobile 98. We were told a bullet hit the car, and the victim was struck in the arm. He was taken to the hospital by private vehicle.
