JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Rankin County developer has been jailed by a Hinds County chancery judge.

Judge Dewayne Thomas found Linus Shackelford in contempt for not repaying more than a half-million dollars illegally borrowed from guardianship funds of a minor.

The minor at the time, was DeMon McClinton, grandson of civil rights activist Dr. Aaron Henry.

Flowood attorney Michael Brown loaned the money to Shackelford from McClinton's inheritance, which Brown was supposed to have protected.

Brown was also jailed.

Shackelford's bond was set at $100,000 and if his appeal is not successful, he is ordered to remain in jail until the half-million dollars is repaid to McClinton, with interest.
