Jackson Restaurant Week kicks off with VIP party

If you consider yourself a genuine foodie, this is your week.

At least 450 food fans gathered at Jackson's Fairview Inn for the kick off of Spring 2012 Jackson Restaurant Week.

Tonight's V-I-P cocktail party featured first tastes of the 15 participating restaurants' menu items.

Five local charities are vying to receive a big check at the end of the week-long event.

Andy Chapman, CEO of EATJACKSON.com, said, "Whoever sends the most votes out to eat at restaurants around Jackson this next week is going to get 10-thousand dollars for their charity."

The charity finalists are Community Animal Rescue and Adoption (CARA), Friends of Children's Hospital (Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital, Jackson Free Clinic, Magnolia Speech School and The Mustard Seed.
