Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis has made a lot of changes since taking office three months ago.
Many of those changes have surprised a number of folks.
He has gotten rid of most of the reserve deputies who served for years with little or no pay.
He has practically overhauled the jail staff at Raymond with little to show for the effort except more unrest from prisoners and a jail escape.
Seniority and pay have been stripped from a number of long time deputies.
As one person told me this week, "He has taken a vengeance against so many of those deputies who worked for Malcolm McMillin," the former long time sheriff of the county.
Let's only hope Sheriff Lewis means well.
And that the ill wind blowing from his department will soon end.
That's my Point of View
