MADISON, MS (WLBT) - Legendary Jackson radio announcer, Farmer Jim Neal was remembered Friday with a golf tournament in his honor at Whisper Lake Golf Course in Madison.
For the past 11 years the Mississippi State hospital has been teeing off on mental illness through its annual golf tournament.
"I want to thank our sponsors for contributing to this event supporting this event. Last year we raised about 40 thousand dollars for friends of Mississippi State hospital and couldn't do that without their help," said event organizer Bo Chastain.
The charity event is named in honor of legendary Jackson radio announcer, Farmer Jim Neal.
It has been six years since Neal's passing and each year friends of the state hospital come together to raise money in his honor.
"I always enjoy this tournament. I've been playing in it for the last eight to ten years. This is the 11th year they had it. It's a great event and Farmer Jim Neal was a great guy, very fortunate to know the guy," said Willie Richardson.
