JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Volunteers and sponsors toasted to a great fundraising effort Friday evening in downtown Jackson.

The Central Mississippi Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure President's Party was an opportunity to thank those involved in the event.

The Central Mississippi Chapter Serves 65 counties and gives 75% of the funds raised back to breast cancer awareness.

Honorary Chair, First Lady Deborah Bryant, talked about the generosity of Mississippians to give back.

"Everywhere I go, everybody's coming up to me. They want to be apart of it. They're a breast cancer survivor or their mother or their sister. So, it's just amazing how many people are out there with breast cancer, but they do survive. We do get early detection now," said First Lady Deborah Bryant.

The governor's mansion was lit up this evening in honor of breast cancer awareness.

If you would like to run in the big race Saturday morning, you can sign up downtown from 7:30 until 8:30.

More than 2,100 participants are expected to lace up their shoes for the event.
