Funeral services are underway for the Baton Rouge Bishop who died shortly after preaching his last sermon last Sunday.

The services for Bishop Richard Allmon of Full Gospel United Pentecostal Church are being held at Living Faith Christian Center, 6375 Winbourne Avenue.

Allmon died on Sunday April 15 after preaching a sermon called "I've done enough already." He suffered a blood clot. He was 57 years old.

"After he got through preaching, he told me he said come here baby...come pray for me," said Lois Allmon, his wife. "And after that he said, call the ambulance."

Not long after they got to the hospital, the 58-year-old, father of 12, was dead from a blood clot. His family spent the week preparing for his memorial service this Monday that they say will be a joyous occasion.

"He was able to pass on doing what he loved to do best," said Raymond Allmon, his son." So it's kind of sad that it's not sad, but it's hard to be when someone that worked so hard reaches a goal.

Raymond says getting to heaven was just one of his father's life goals. Among his other goals: serving people and helping them serve God. One of the ways Allmon was able to put his words into actions was through the community center he opened six years ago.

"The overall vision for it was just having something for the community that and for our church that we could call home," said Robert Allmon, his son.

Tom Teeney, a friend and mentor of Bishop Allmon's says the pastor's drive to serve others was one of many qualities he like about Allmon, a man Teeney says was in his prime.

"He must've worked harder because he finished sooner...he was an epic in his time," said Teeney.

While loved ones prepare to say goodbye to their beloved friend, father and husband on Monday, they say they know they'll see him again in heaven.

"Now I'm going to meet him. I'm going one day, and I'm gonna be happy about it. That's what I'm living for...eternity," said Lois Allmon.
