RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Renaissance era came alive Saturday for kids and their families in during a daylong festival in Ridgeland.

Arts on the Green 2012 is a fund raiser for St. Andrews Episcopal School.

It was held on the north campus.

The one day festival celebrates arts, science, music and community.

It was a day of fun and learning for the kids where a cockatiel could take a walk on your arm and perch there or a snake could be wrapped around your shoulders.

There were games and lots of fun activities including a weaponry display, workshops and a fashion show.

Over 50 artists and craftsmen displayed their works from paintings and ceramics to jewelry and bottle trees.

"We decided to bring the new McRae Science Building into Arts on the Green and celebrate science and arts, and we brought a Renaissance theme in to help us do that. So it's like Arts on the Green with a little bit of a renaissance flair," said event co-chairperson Kellye Montjoy.

This is the second year the event has been held.
