Ridgeland Police chase vehicle through two cities

RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A high speed chase Saturday evening in Ridgeland forces motorists off the roadway and concluded in the capital city.

That pursuit ended when this white Toyota crashed in a ditch in Jackson near the intersection of Brown Street and West County Line Road.

Witnesses tell WLBT that Ridgeland Police were chasing the vehicle around 7:15 p.m. When police reached the wrecked vehicle the driver had fled.

Metro One was assisting with the hunt from the air. At one point Ridgeland Police were following the speeding car south on Highway 51.

No word on what prompted the chase through two counties.

Our calls to Ridgeland police for details about the incident have not been returned.
