Man appeals his conviction of killing JSU student Latasha Norman

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Oral arguments are scheduled to be heard by the Mississippi Court of Appeals for the man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend.

In February 2010, Stanley Cole was convicted by a Hinds County Jury for the death of 20-year- old Latasha Norman.

Cole insists her death was an accident. He said they were fighting in the car when Norman hit her head and he was not able to resuscitate her.

May 16th arguments are scheduled for Cole's appeal. Cole's attorney plans to argue that the jury should have been allowed to consider a manslaughter verdict.

Hinds County Circuit Judge Swan Yerger denied the request from the defense when Cole's case was being tried.
