It was two years ago that a powerful EF-4 tornado hit Yazoo City. Four people died there and the twister went on to kill a total of 10 in Mississippi.
The storm came right up highway three to hit the Four Corners intersection in Yazoo City April 24th, 2010 shortly after noon.
Dale Thrasher was working inside the Hillcrest Baptist Church on top of the hill, which was completely wiped away, but he miraculously survived.
"I got up under this table we had for the offering plate" said Thrasher.
We found him in front of the church, cutting grass two years later and he is still very thankful for his survival.
"I bowed my head and said lord save me, and he did" added Thrasher.
When we got here two years ago, injured people were still being hauled up this hill on the backs of four wheelers. At least 20 were injured.
Rob Saxton and his wife were picked up by the tornado in the four corners intersection.
"It startled me when we were just lifted up in the air" said Saxton. "It picked us up, it blowed the windows out of the car, spun us around, and it was probably the scariest moment I have ever had in my life."
Two years later Saxton says he still gets real scared when the skies turn black.
There are still houses that have not been rebuilt two years later.
Governor Haley Barbour was in his hometown when the tornado hit. He says it was a miracle how so few people died.
"One of the reasons there weren't as many fatalities as there looked like there would be, was because of all these volunteers going into the damaged areas" says Barbour.
Some 20 miles east of Yazoo City, 79-year-old Stella Martin died in her trailer. Her 80-year-old husband survived, but was injured.
Residents say he has moved to Lexington, where he has recovered from his injuries, but has not gotten over the loss of his wife.
