BRANDON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Sirdarous Sheriff and Rahim Williams, both 18 years old, smiled for our cameras Wednesday as they were escorted out of court into a Brandon Police cruiser.
We asked Sheriff why he smiled.
"I got a low bond," he answered. "They dropped some of the charges because I ain't do nothing. I ain't taken the car or nothing. So I feel good about the day."
In court, Municipal Judge Mike Younger dropped felony evading against Sheriff, and resisting arrest charges against both of the Jackson teens, and reduced their bond to $5,000 each. They're accused of jumping out of a stolen car during a traffic stop last Wednesday, then leading police on a foot chase.
The search included officers from Rankin County, Pearl and Flowood, and Metro One. They both turned themselves in Friday.
Sheriff said "no comment" when we asked him why he ran from police that day.
Their cases will now go to a Rankin County Grand Jury.
