A Vicksburg High School assistant softball coach is on administrative leave, accused of having inappropriate contact with a player.

Bethany Dykes was placed on leave Friday, according to her attorney Kevin Camp.

Camp said Dykes denies the rumors that are circulating in the community and on social media sites.

The Wesson native also teaches ninth grade social studies at the high school.

According to her attorney, Dykes' main concern is her job and teaching, but she understands she must go through the process to clear her name.

"She is fully cooperating with the investigation, and she believes that once the investigation is finished, she'll be exonerated by it. She has denied any improper relationships whatsoever," said Camp.

"We have an assistant coach who has been placed on administrative leave while we investigate allegations of improper conduct with a student. We are working alongside the D.A.'s Office and city police in conducting this investigation." said Vicksburg Warren School District Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Swinford.

Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong said his department was made aware of the allegations from a school official that a parent had come forward, but no formal complaint has been filed at this time.
