JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The dream of an NFL career will become a reality for former Yazoo City star Fletcher Cox on Thursday night.
Cox is expected to be a high first round pick in the opening round of the NFL Draft.
The Mississippi State product is widely considered the best defensive tackle available in the draft.
Cox has been moving up draft boards ever since he decided to leave MSU after his junior season to pursue a career in the NFL.
Standing 6'4'' and 298 pounds, Cox was a disruptive force on the Mississippi State defensive line this past season.
He finished his junior season with 56 tackles and five sacks.
Cox has never forgotten where is came from.
On the eve of the NFL Draft, Cox tweeted his appreciation for the support from his home town of Yazoo City.
@fcoxx_94 "S/O to Yazoo City couldn't have done it without y'all ....."
The career started in Yazoo City.
It made a stop in Starkville.
Where the path leads next will be decided on Thursday night.
