YAZOO CITY, MS (WLBT) - Fletcher Cox becomes the first player from Yazoo City taken in the NFL Draft since 1988.
His hometown held a huge watch party Thursday night at Yazoo City High School.
They erupted with joy after hearing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announce Fletcher as the 12th pick to the Philadelphia Eagles.
More than 50 students, coaches and staff members gathered at the schools cafeteria watching and waiting for Fletcher's name to be called.
Cox's former coach, Tony Woolfolk, set the entire draft party to together to celebrate his former players selection.
He says this is a huge day for not only Fletcher but for the entire city.
