JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Old Capitol Museum is making good use of the green space next door. On Saturday, the third annual "Gathering on the Green" was held for children and adults.

It's an opportunity for families to enjoy the good weather, get some exercise, and even get health tips. The Craftsman's Guild was on hand, demonstrating wood carving and cotton spinning. Games and sports activities kept young ones busy.

"We're definitely promoting this spot right here. There's not many green spaces left in Downtown Jackson, we think this is the perfect place to have festivals like this," says Clay Williams, Director of the Old Capitol Museum.

The Metro Y-M-C-A was also on hand demonstrating "Ripken Quick Ball", which is a miniature baseball game created by the Cal Ripken, Senior Foundation.
