Miss. lawmakers facing more budget work Sunday

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi legislators return to the Capitol late Sunday afternoon to continue working on a $5.6 billion state budget for the coming year.

The Senate convenes at 4 p.m., and the House convenes an hour later.

The two chambers approved most big-ticket budget items on Saturday. Among the bills still pending are those to fund Medicaid, the Mississippi Development Authority and the Department of Public Safety.

Monday is the deadline for legislators to approve all appropriations and revenue bills for fiscal 2013, which begins July 1.

The four-month session is scheduled to end by May 6.
