
Abraham and Rideout Law Office became a crime scene just before nine Saturday night and now the founder of the North Central Mississippi Regional Cancer Center and another man are in the LeFlore County jail charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Greenwood police says the Authorities say Dr. Arnold Smith, an Oncologist, and Paul Muller were plotting to kill Greenwood Attorney Lee Abraham. This did not go according to plan because the alleged hit-man is dead and his alleged accomplice is on life support at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Greenwood Police Chief Henry Purnell says his investigators learned there was a contract hit out on Attorney Lee Abraham had been put out, but little did the contract killers know that Abraham was meeting with attorney general investigators.
"They were in a meeting and was interrupted by two black males coming inside one had a weapon and ended up in a shootout. Fire was returned from the agents and also the suspects," says Chief Purnell.
The alleged hit-man, Kearra Byrd of Greenwood was armed with a Tech-9 gun and later died from multiple gunshot wounds. His mother's cries piercing into the night sky after identifying her 23-year-old son. According to Chief Purnell, "Byrd's alleged accomplice, 24-year-old Derrick Lacy was shot in the lower back.
State and local authorities are now trying to find the motive behind Dr. Smith and William Muller's plot to kill Lee Abraham.
