NATCHEZ, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Natchez voters went to the polls to choose a democratic mayoral candidate in Tuesday's primary election.

Current Mayor Jake Middleton and two former mayors, Larry "Butch" Brown and state representative Phillip "Bucket" West were on the ballot.

Brown received the most votes with 44.7 percent. West came in second with 39.8 percent of the vote. Middleton, the incumbent, only received 15 percent.

There will be a run-off between Brown and West May 15.

The winner will advance to the general election against independent candidate Bill Furlow and Republican candidate Bob Buie June 5.
