Governor Bryant signs school start date act into law

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The days of school beginning in early August will soon be over.

Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, the academic year will begin on or after the third Monday in August.

The law takes effect July 1 of this year. It does not apply to the Mississippi School for the Blind and the Mississippi School for the Deaf.
