JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are investigating the city's 22nd homicide this year. Investigators say the man who shot and killed a 32-year-old rap artist remains at large.

The victim was gunned down inside a home on Conner Avenue off Greenwood Avenue in south Jackson around 11:30 Thursday morning. Friends at the scene of the crime tell WLBT the victim is Timothy Steele.

Steele, according to Jeff Moore who lived at the home, was a local rap artist for Diamond Records. Moore said he was using a studio set up inside the house at 420 Conner Avenue and stayed at his home Wednesday night with his girlfriend.

Police say Steele's girlfriend called authorities Thursday morning. The victims' brother showed up on the scene.

The Hinds County Coroner says Steele was shot multiple times with a small caliber gun. Investigations say the body was located inside a bedroom of the Conner Avenue home.
