Officers honored for arresting DUI offenders

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Law officers from across the state were recognized for their efforts to get motorists driving under the influence off the streets. 

A total of 81 officers were honored during an awards luncheon at Jackson State University's Student Center Thursday morning.

Nominees are inducted into the club for having made a minimum of 100 dui arrests in 2011.

Forty-one men and women made the 100 club and eight lawmen joined the 200 club, including three from the Jackson area.

They are officers Chris Godfrey and Harrison Matory with the Jackson Police Department and Sergeant Stan Pellegrine from the Hinds County Sheriff's Department.

This is the 29th year for the recognition celebration.
