Parents continue to question JPS rezoning plans

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

More confusion and lots of questions from parents about the rezoning plans for Jackson Public Schools.

The gym at Siwell Middle School was packed Thursday night with family members who want to know why the International Baccalaureate Program or IB Program is ending at Siwell.

IB students will now go to Northwest Middle School.

Superintendent Dr. Jayne Sargent explained the district was in dire straits and tough decisions had to be made.

Sargent also told parents students who were being bused in to Siwell ,who don't live in the area, were taking the spot of students who do live in the school zone.

Community meetings continue Monday and Tuesday at Peeples and Powell middle schools.
