JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The rain did not stop the annual Pepsi Pops concert Friday night at the Reservoir. This is the 31st year the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra has held the concert at Old Trace Park.
Rain moved in shortly after five Friday evening but die hard fans put up umbrellas and tents. Some families did leave when the heaviest rain moved in. The wet weather also damaged a generator, but that did not stop the music.
"Well its important because we can bring the community together in a family fun event that everybody can come out to and enjoy themselves. Great music, great scenery, and be with their friends. What more of a family event do you want in Mississippi than Pepsi Pops", said Bill Brown of Brown Bottling Group.
This is one of the biggest concerts for MSO. Each year hundreds of people fill Old Trace Park. Pepsi Pops will be topped off with fireworks.
