Some business owners in Hinds County may not be paying their fair share of taxes. Now county leaders say it's time to pay up.
Businesses pay property taxes, but they also have to pony up for a furniture fixture tax.
Many aren't aware of the tax and some supervisors and business owners say it's unfair for some to pay while others do not.
Hair Explosion owner, Jeffery Ross said, "It's frustrating, very frustrating and I'm hoping now that this will change and that the county will get their fair share of taxes."
Angela Young who is the owner of Jasper's Carry Out and Catering also said, "The county is not getting enough money, and by people not being aware of it, it's making it hard on the people that are aware of it."
Hinds County leaders want municipalities to submit all privilege license applications to the tax assessor's office to clear up any confusion.
