Saturday evening's rains didn't dampen fans excitement of seeing Skylar Laine at two metro area events.
With umbrellas in hand, folks waited in line to meet the "American Idol" star at Flowood's Family Festival.
Laine signed autographs under a tent for each person who waited in line.
The Brandon native will leave Sunday to rehearse for the season finale of the show. Then she will go to Nashville to work on her career.
But her family says Saturday's event was about saying thank you to the people who supported her on the show.
"All of these people in the pouring down rain want my kid's autograph, who could ask for more? That means a lot; the love that they feel for her, and that's just one more indication of the love Mississippi has for their own," says Skylar's mother Mary Harden.
Laine also made a stop at Brandon Day.
She finished fifth on "American Idol."
