Police investigate kidnapping/armed robbery of La. women

Posted: Updated:

A trip across the river to a Vicksburg casino turned into a nightmare for two women who police said were abducted and robbed by men they just met.

According to Vicksburg Police, two Louisiana women were at the Ameristar Casino Saturday night when they met two men.

Just hours later their night of fun turned to sheer terror.

The unidentified Monroe Louisiana women exchanged numbers with the men then agreed to meet them later at the nearby Waffle House on Warrenton Road.

The pair told police that around 12:45 a.m. they were forced at gunpoint into a blue and silver Dodge Magnum.

"A third suspect appeared with the two suspects that were there and produced a handgun and forced the two ladies inside the suspect vehicle," said Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong.

Investigators said the women were driven about a half a mile south on Warrenton Road to Rifle Range Road where the men took the ladies cell phones and let them out of the vehicle.

The suspects then returned to the Waffle House and stole the women's purses from their car.

"We have identified one of the suspects by way of video, and we are trying to identify the other two suspects. We've already issued a warrant for one of the three," said the Vicksburg police chief.

Authorities are not releasing their identities but say all three are black males in their late 20's to early 30's and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Vicksburg police said one of the women's stolen credit cards was used at the Highway 18 Walmart and a Citgo gas station in Jackson.

The women were not injured and after being dropped off by their abductors, called police from a home on Rifle Range Road.

"Statistics show that anytime you are forced to leave with suspects you are very likely to be harmed in some serious way. These ladies are very fortunate," added Chief Armstrong.

One man is described as a 6'0" feet tall and 200 pounds.

A second suspect is also about 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds with a medium complexion.

The third is about 5'8" and 220 pounds.
