Vets on Segs

RICHLAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two veterans are on a mission riding Segways across the country to raise money for fellow veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Justin Bond and Jason Day are with "Vets on Segs" to raise money for non-profit "Our Heroes' Dreams".

They are helping veterans deal with the pressures of PTSD by getting them counseling amongst other things to help them revitalize their lives. Bond shared with us some statistics to put to epidemic into perspective.

Bond said 6,500 veterans commit suicide every year, which is 18 a day. The duos voyage began in Monterrey, California on April 1 and is scheduled to end in Jacksonville, Florida, May 31.

As they cruise down Highway 49 south outside Richland on Tuesday they remain on schedule, traveling 60 miles a day at 12 miles per hour.
