Sound Off: NC Governor Remarks

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Last week North Carolina overwhelmingly passed a same sex marriage ban by a 62 to 38% margin.

North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue attacked her own state after the vote. "It's wrong for North Carolina, clearly, clearly and simply," Perdue said. "People around the country are watching us, and they're really confused. To have been such a progressive, forward-thinking, economically driven state that invested in education and that stood up for the civil rights of people, including the civil rights marches back in the '50s and '60s and '70s. Now she could have stopped there, but she continued, folks are saying, 'What in the world is going on in North Carolina?' We look like Mississippi."

More than 30 states ban same sex marriage. Did she name any of them besides Mississippi? No. Why didn't she attack fellow North Carolinian Billy Graham, who supported the same sex marriage ban? You know Governor you do look like Mississippi. We allow Mississippians to use their freedom to vote their convictions, just like your state. You seem to only open your mouth to exchange feet.
