Tips lead to 100-pound pot bust

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An investigation spanning nearly eight months led to a major drug bust Tuesday afternoon at a home in north Jackson.

Investigators say tips from people who live in the neighborhood led them to a house on Vine Street, where they arrested three men and confiscated over 100 pounds of marijuana.

Commander Jessie Robinson, Jr., says the bust should make a significant dent in the Jackson drug trade.

"With this much drugs being taken off the streets, that means that the people who commit crimes -- burglaries, auto thefts, armed robberies -- won't be motivated to go to this area and purchase drugs with that ill-gotten gains," Robinson said.

Robinson says the pot has a street value of about $140,000.
