Jackson church's air conditioner stolen in burglary

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson pastor says nothing is sacred anymore and it's amazing the levels thieves will go to. He called 3 On Your Side for help.

Dr. B. Sullivan Taylor is pastor of The Cathedral of Faith Church at Siwell Road and Highway 18. Taylor says he was notified by an alarm company and Jackson Police about this burglary at the church early Tuesday morning.

Tire tracks are still visible on the property. Taylor says it looks like thieves backed a truck up to this area of the building and cut through bars to get to an air conditioning unit. Not only were the bars cut, but also the tubing connected to the air conditioner.

"We've put some things in place whereby if they return to attempt that again, they will do it at their own peril. Yes ma'am, they will do it at their own peril and if they don't know Jesus, they will see Him the very next time they do that in another venue," said Pastor Taylor.

Taylor told us several other churches in the Jackson metro area have been burglarized of their air conditioning units. He says thieves had been hitting churches in the county and are now moving their operation into the city limits.
