Detective: Video shows murder-for-hire discussion

GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - A judge has ruled there is enough evidence for a grand jury to consider whether to indict a Mississippi doctor for allegedly conspiring with two men to kill his ex-wife's divorce lawyer.

Dr. Ralph Arnold Smith Jr. will remain in jail without bond, the judge ruled Wednesday.

Earlier a Mississippi police detective testified that a video showed Smith and an alleged hit man discussing a plot to kill the divorce lawyer who represented the doctor's ex-wife. The video was shown Wednesday in Leflore County Court.

The 70-year-old doctor is charged with conspiring to kill attorney Lee Abraham. Authorities say the plot led to a shootout on April 28 in Abraham's office in Greenwood.

Abraham was not hurt.
