JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
In a week of honoring fallen law enforcement officers the state took time Thursday morning to remember their fallen wildlife officers. Since 1948 10 men have been killed in the line of duty as Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks officers.
Their bravery was recognized during the Fallen Officers Dedication and Memorial Service at department headquarters. "If we continue to support these law enforcement officer, if we continue to give them all that they need to be protected in their days of duty," Bryant said. "If we continue to return here to honor them. They will not have passed in vain."
Governor Bryant and the First Lady also participated in the laying of the wreath at the fallen officer memorial.
The names of the fallen MDWFP officers with the year of their deaths are as follows: Frank W. "Bud" Stuart (1948); Hi Eastland Johnson (1952); Willie A. Shingler (1962); Edward W.
