MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Madison County authorities are closely monitoring developments in neighboring Yazoo County. The sheriff tells us female motorists have been pulled over in two separate incidents within the past couple of weeks. This happened after dark near the Gluckstadt exit off I-55.
In both cases, an unmarked car with single dash light was used to stop drivers.
"In the incidents concerning Madison county a blue light was displayed, a dash blue light" said Sheriff Randy Tucker. "I can't elaborate on the Yazoo County or north Mississippi incidents."
A reporter asked, "Did the individual stay in the car?"
"On one occasion he pulled up, stopped the vehicle then drove off" Tucker replies. "In another incident he got out of the vehicle and had a dialogue with the driver.
We asked the Sheriff, "How do these people get these blue lights?"
"Well it's not against the law to purchase them"Said Tucker. "The law states you can't display them."
The vehicles were described as a small red car and dark colored Jeep Grand Cherokee with flashing lights.
Motorist are on high alert after two killings in north Mississippi were attributed to a possible police impersonator.
The Sheriff says call 9-1-1 or *47 if you are concerned about who is pulling you over during a traffic stop.
