Vicksburg kidnapping suspects remain in jail

Posted: Updated:

Three men suspected of kidnapping two Louisiana women in Vicksburg remain behind bars.

Felix Howard, Perry McAbee and Cedric Akite were all in Vicksburg municipal court for initial appearances Friday morning. Each is charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of armed robbery and auto burglary.

Police said earlier this week the men met up with two women from Louisiana at the Ameristar Casino. The group went to the Waffle House on Warrenton Road and police say that's when the women were forced into a vehicle at gunpoint. Their phones were stolen, but the women were eventually let go.

"We're very thankful that the ladies involved were not killed it was a very dangerous situation and we were able to identify and develop this case in record time we were able to make arrests in three days of the incident," said Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong.

All three suspects received a $225,000 bond. However, Akite can't post bond unless the Mississippi Department of Corrections lifts a hold on a previous burglary charge.
