SMITH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two Smith County men accused of beating another man to death with a baseball bat have pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Koda Williamson, 26, who was set to go to trial Monday for murder, entered his plea on Friday.

Bronson James, 34, entered the same plea two weeks ago.

The victim, 21-year-old Jessie Beech, died last August after a group of men armed with baseball bats assaulted him along Highway 540 near the Simpson-Smith county line.

Five others were charged in Beech's death, and their cases are still pending, according to Smith County District Attorney Daniel Jones.

Smith County Circuit Court Judge Eddie Bowen sentenced Williamson and James to 19 years in jail, followed by one year of supervised probation.
