Mainly hot and dry weather will continue for central and south Mississippi. Lows will remain in the 60s, highs will be around 90 every day.
A weak cold front will move into the area on Monday. This front will spark a few showers and thunderstorms. Monday will offer the best rain chances for at least the next week.
Switching gears, a rare May tropical storm formed off the South Carolina coast on Saturday afternoon. The National Hurricane Center upgraded the low pressure system to Tropical Storm Alberto at 4PM. Alberto will not impact our weather and will likely remain just offshore of the east coast. It will still bring some high surf to coastal areas of the Carolinas and Georgia this weekend.
The official start of the Atlantic hurricane season is June 1 and it runs through November 30. On rare occasions, systems do form outside of that window. Since 1962, there have been a total of 7 named storms in the month of May, including Alberto.
