JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Two Pearl police officers injured in a shootout where fellow investigator Mike Walter was killed are recovering after they had surgery Friday.
According to Pearl Police Chief Ben Schuler, Investigator Shaun Terwilliger had a medical procedure to have metal pins put in his hand.
Terwilliger wasn't shot during the incident.
Investigator Dave McCarley was shot in the hand and leg.
Doctors first thought he would have to have a bone graph, but that turned out not to be needed.
"All I can say is it's a miracle of God. It seems they thought it was going to do well on its own. So, we will just wait and see, but they seem to be doing good at this time," says Schuler.
More community fundraisers to help them and the Walter family are planned in the near future.
