JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two decomposing bodies are found in west Jackson about 5:30 Friday evening.

Police say they were found by workers from a law maintenance company at 550 Country Club Drive, just off Clinton Boulevard. It is the old site of Shady Oaks Country Club.

The bodies were found behind a group of trees in a field.

Investigators say it appears the bodies were dumped at the location, possibly a week ago.

According to Deputy Chief Eric Wall, no problems have been reported in the area.

The decomposition is so bad police haven't been able to determine a race, gender, or cause of death.

"You have a situation where it's a wide open area. The animals come in and bothers the crime scene and what have you. The weather plays a factor. So, you know, we are just kind of starting it at ground zero," says Wall.

Officers are checking missing persons reports in the area.

Faith 4 Life Church now operates on the property.
