Pearl restaurant is helping officers

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Pearl restaurant is donating a portion of its sales to the Pearl Police Department's Officer Memorial Fund.

The "Dine and Donate" event at Lone Star Steakhouse is giving the community an opportunity to give back to the department.

Since May 21st the restaurant has given 15% of its sales to the fund.

The program honors fallen Investigator Mike Walter and injured officers Dave McCarley and Shaun Terwlliger.

So far, more than $3,700 has been raised.

Many managers and servers know the officers from their stops in the restaurant and wanted to help.

"We feel like it's our civic duty. We're a part of this community. We take from the community through our sales and everything, and we believe that we should give back every chance that we have," said Pearl Lone Star Steakhouse Executive General Manager Pratt Shirley.

The Dine and Donate event will wrap-up Sunday May 27th.
