"Military Through the Ages" in Vicksburg

Military history and remembering the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice takes center stage this Memorial Day Weekend.

Volunteers and park rangers at the Vicksburg National Cemetery dressed in uniforms from the Revolutionary War to today's modern military.

Visitors were able to experience how a service member would live during the conflicts America has faced. The drastic changes of equipment, vehicles, and weapons were all on display at the "Military Through the Ages" event.

"I think a lot of people don't quite realize that big shift in technology that does take place, even early in history we think of the Revolutionary War and the Civil War's as people with old funny looking clothes. There's a lot more differences than that," said Jake Koch, Park Guide Vicksburg National Cemetery.

That program wrapped up Sunday.

Veterans' groups will lay a wreath on the grave of an unknown soldier tomorrow for Memorial Day.

There will also a be a parade on Washington Street in Vicksburg starting at 10a.m.
