JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Postmenopausal women who lose weight can significantly lower their risk for breast cancer.

Researchers have found overweight or obese women who lost ten percent of their body weight reduced their risk of breast cancer as much as 50 percent.

Experts say those post menopausal women had significantly lower levels of hormones that are associated with breast cancer.

The outcomes were the same for women who went on a diet along with exercise, and those who chose to diet without exercise.
